Photographer Job in Belen, New Mexico

Blue Skies Consulting, LLC, based in Belen, NM, has one opening for an aerial photographer trainee who will be photographing sites all over the Southwest for the US Department of Agriculture’s National Resources Inventory program. Training and equipment will be provided, but photography experience is a plus. Windows-based computer experience, organizational skills, and attention to detail are required. The position involves working in a small airplane 8 hours per day all summer, so someone who gets airsick should not apply. Duties include but are not limited to: loading film and preparing a large-format aerial camera for each workday, operating and maintaining the camera, daily record-keeping, assisting pilots with planning of each mission, and coordinating with office personnel. A drug test and a Federal Aviation Administration background check are mandatory. Hourly wage is from $10 to $12 per hour depending on experience, plus overtime. As part of a flight crew, more than 50 days will be spent traveling during the flying season, with all expenses paid. The candidate must be available holidays and weekends. The position is full-time seasonal with an option for year-round employment.
