I am a medical photographer and a freelance portrait photographer based in NYC. By being medical photography, I take charge of filming surgery and interviews, photographs of patients, and logo design. As a freelance portrait photographer, I shoot fashion, street, aesthetic and conceptual photography. My work explores the identities of humans, the moody, and the perceptual parts of a person. The desire to find my and others’ true identity drives me to create these works.
I took the Japanese aesthetic concept “Yugen” into my works, (the word “Yugen” originally came from Chinese poetry), the indirect sense/feeling with your heart when you see something beautiful. Rather than expressing outside, it’s more about dynamism inside of your feelings. My works usually involve high vibrant colors but on the contrary, lonely and gloomy moods. I was inspired by film directors Quentin Tarantino and Wong Kar-Wai especially from the aspects of aesthetics and colors.
