It's never been technical-just a click of the button and then you're done. It's always been far more than that. It's always been something that I believe, comes from your vision. Capturing photographs is in essence, taking a memory and recreating it in a way that it will be timeless. What separates an amateur photographer from a professional photographer? Someone once said; it’s not the camera, it's the photographer behind the camera because passion, creativity, and vision are essential for being the best photographer in the field. When I was 10 years old, my mother who always encouraged me gave me my first instamatic camera. Boy, I was relentless chasing my family members around the house terrorizing them as I snapped pictures whether they wanted it or not. Many times I had fists flailing threatening bodily harm or hands in front of faces. But, I never gave up because through all the threats and flailing hands there were those moments when I captured that one precious image that made it all worthwhile. Since my dear mother had just passed away I realise how important it is to have those moments of laughter, tears, or just images of everyday life. And I discovered it's not about taking a picture. It's making an emotional connection to the images by capturing the personality of people. Capturing those moments through storytelling. Today, looking at my images I took as a child makes me understand why I did what I did. I realize that telling a story of everyday life is important to me. Because it is those little inuedos that are caught in an image. Why hire me? Capturing the emotions and character of a subject in an image is what moves the audience. I love to tell stories with my images because their emotions and personality is what inspires me to seize that moment in time.
