I have always had a fascination with the world of photography. When I was 14, I got my first film camera, thanks to one of my younger brothers. While it was only a small compact style camera, it lead me on the right path to learn the principles of photography. At the age of 16 I gained my experienced in understanding wildlife as an Apprentice Falconer for the Earth Quest Environmental Foundation, which gave me the knowledge to photograph and study wildlife. In 1998, at the age of 19, I entered the United States Coast Guard. I subsequently became the Station Photographer at both of my duty stations during my service.
