It's simple. Everyone wants great photos, not just the cell phone pics or Cousin Eddie's attempts with the really cool camera he just got for some occasion. I offer custom photography with an artistic eye. I can charge less than portrait studios because I don't have the overhead that they need to do what they do. My photos are done either on location or my small "stealth studio" depending on the needs. I'm not looking to cheat them out of business, I simply offer an alternative: great, unique photographs! If you want yearbook photos, passport photos, business card shots, I'm probably not the guy you want. I can do those things for you, but I love to bring out the personalities of the people and things I shoot: portraits, products, landscapes, whatever there is to photograph. My flat rate is $50 an hour. This includes the shoot, editing (a time consuming process) and all of the equipment, training, and artistry I bring to what I do. Just as a workman is worth his/her wages, so are the artists. I am both. You get the photos, with the rights. I also get the rights, sometimes with agreements not to use the photos (an extra fee due to potential loss of income). It's really not complicated as it sounds.
