After 45 years in the newspaper industry as a writer and editor, I took a buyout and am now freelancing. While sports was the major background during my career, I also have written many travel and food stories, along with many feature articles. Human interest stories, getting to know the person and telling him/her story is my favourite. Since retiring from full-time journalism, I have done editing work, freelance writing for various companies and wrote and self-published a book. Photography is now a hobby but during the final 15 years of my newspaper career I was the ski writer for the Edmonton Journal and took most of the photographs to accompany my stories.
