Sean Kenneth Garvin, photographer and owner of SKG’s Photography, found photography at the young age of 10, when he discovered his aunt’s camera. He was immediately captivated by it and developed a passion for taking pictures of things in his life and environment. From that point on, Sean studied various techniques and styles used by others in the field, the history of photography by collecting antique cameras and related equipment, and reading books and other materials about photography. He quickly acquired an enthusiasm for photographing scenes of the great outdoors. Growing up and living in the Northwest has provided Sean with endless opportunities to capture wildlife and scenes in nature with his camera. Entirely self-taught and following the path of many photographers like Scott Kelby, Sean’s photography has evolved over years as he studied and explored his interests. A particular focus of Sean’s work is capturing the unique beauty of the intersection of nature and mankind, specifically abandoned railroad cars, mine shafts, and ghost towns. He believes the juxtaposition of these rusting, aging, man-made objects with the magnificence of nature creates a unique beauty that is best captured in photographs. One look at Sean’s award-winning work shows his unique ability to transport people into his photos. When Sean is not behind his camera, he loves spending time with friends and family, especially his little brother, Skyler. He also enjoys traveling and exploring new areas to photograph.
