Photographer in Chicago, Illinois

My name is Amy Rothblatt, and I have been a freelance photographer for 15 years, although I started taking pictures when I was 14 years old. I am primarily an event photographer, working with colleges and universities in Chicago on events, editorial documenting of classrooms, conferences, faculty portraits (environmental and with lighting), but also with corporations (events and headshots), non-profits, event planners, networking events, and some studio work (I have a small studio in my home in the South Loop.) I am currently working part-time as a photographer at the UIC Craniofacial Center, taking photographs of pre-surgical patients, post, and at various stages in between. I have found this very rewarding, and it is easy to develop a bond with these people (mostly children) who come in frequently. The surgeons do a fabulous job, helping improve the lives of these patients by improving, and in many cases correcting, birth defects, as well as cancer patients, etc. Also, I take photos for the orthodontists and orthodontic surgeon, the anaplastologists (create the prosthetic noses, ears, and eyes), and operate and process images with the 3-D camera. This is a truly interesting job, very flexible, allowing me to do freelance work; mostly photographing events and occasionally weddings. I am personable and professional, have years of photo experience (doing editorial work, events, studio work, and work for myself), sales and marketing experience (was also a real estate sales agent for six years while a photographer), and have a bachelor's degree in communications from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, 20 credits in photography from Columbia College.
