Role and Responsibilities: Our Middle-School After School Programs are seeking talented, highly motivated and engaging artists who work well with youth, parents and school administrators. Working closely with an on-site arts and supervisory team, a Photography Teaching Artists should be able to use their life and professional artistic skills to build structured learning experiences needed to contribute to a vibrant and enriching after school community. Photography Teaching Artists provide their school partners with quality art instruction, project-based curricula, lesson plans and implement specific program standards designed to enhance the lives of their students and the overall school community during out- of-school time hours. Projects must lead to final showcases or presentation of students' works to show the skills they learned with the Photography Teaching Artist. We are seeking a Teaching Artist with experience teaching Digital Imaging and Film Photography, making use of Adobe Photoshop, Light room, Bridge, In Design and Capture One Programs as well as experience teaching with Remote Desktop and In Digital Output. We are currently accepting resumes in the disciplines of Photography, Visual Arts and the sub-genres within i.e.: Photography - Teach students the art of photography and skills to take quality photos, editing, lighting awareness etc Visual Arts - Sketching, Painting, Mask Making, Graffiti, Cartooning, Film Making, Graphic Design, Wearable Art, Jewelry making, Sculpting Compensation: $20-30 per hour, based on teaching experience. We offer children's photography classes twice a week 2:30-5:30pm The Photography Teaching Artist must be available 6 hours per week on the agreed upon two days out of the week Monday-Friday 2:30-5:30pm for the entire school year. Qualifications: • At least three years experience teaching students in urban city schools • At least three years experience as a professional artist in the field they are applying for • Knowledgeable and passionate about photography. Must be self driven. • Be at least 21 years of age • High School diploma or its equivalent and at least 2yrs. of college experience • Highly organized and have basic computer experience • Able to commit to working with students from September 2016 thru June 2017 • Willing to work the agreed upon schedule for the entire school year • Excellent time and classroom management skills • Must prepare and submit activity lesson plans with clear objectives that leads to an exhibition of students work • Willing to participate in group project planning, professional development opportunities, community activities and school functions • Compliant to fingerprinting, hiring requirements and security clearance by NYC Dept. of Health.
