My name is Rachel Pilling. I've been a photographer for nearly 6 years now. Photography is a huge part of my life and has changed the way I see the world we live in. I am extremely creative and have always been involved in art from a very small age. Photography is a way for me to make art out of things that most people would never even notice. My goal is to put my own unique perspective into every photo I take. I have grown to love shooting anything and everything and am always trying new techniques and working to improve myself. I believe my photos express what I cannot put into words, and truly reflect my personality. Apart from photography, my hobbies include motocross, hiking, adventuring and music. These hobbies come through in many of my photos. Artistic photography is more of my specialty, but I have also grown to love taking portraits. It is a whole different side of photography that really allows me to use my skills to make people feel confident in themselves and I love capturing them in a way they didn’t know was possible. Another skill I possess is a very large amount of experience in editing photos. I believe editing is a large part of making a photo art, and that a photo is nowhere near great until proper editing is done. I have learned over the years how to really bring out the natural beauty that sometimes gets lost in the camera, and I strive to make the photo look exactly how I visioned it when it was taken. I have also learned not to over-edit, or take the photo too far from reality. I spend more time than most really perfecting photos and putting my all into every last one. I am college educated in many different art forms including photography and photoshop. My work has been featured all over the internet through websites and blogs, as well as in local Central Oregon shops and COCC's student art gallery. I have also been a contributing photographer to COCC's newspaper, the Broadside and had my work featured on the cover.
